This why we must work

This why we must work

Listen to Audio Devotion

Good morning. Welcome to a new day. I hope you’re doing well. I want to share a word with you that I believe will encourage you and will shift your perspective to Christ as you begin another day in office.

The Bible says like this in Colossians 3:23. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for human masters, verse 24 says since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ, you are serving.

As we go to the office, another day of work, you may be facing challenges of all kinds. Here’s what you must remember the work you are doing, you must do it as of you’re doing it for the Lord. Yes, it may be a different company, a different boss. It may not be in ministry, it may be something very different. Maybe you didn’t want to be in that field, but you are there doing those things that do not, keep you happy or make you happy or is not taking you towards your life goals.

Whatever it is, if you have an opportunity to do some work, do it as if you are doing it for the Lord. Because, if you think about the Christian doctrine of work, there is a responsibility on every human being to work and they must work because if they work, the world moves forward. It’s not that, you know, they are shouldering the responsibility of the whole world on them, but rather it is a Godly system that takes people towards progress. It’s a Godly system that keeps society stable. It’s a Godly system that keeps families together.

So working is an important aspect. So, Sometimes we may get caught up in this thinking that I don’t like my job, I don’t like my boss, I don’t like my colleagues. But can I encourage you to look beyond all that and tell yourself that I’m gonna do it no matter how I feel today.

Because I’m called to work as if I’m working for the Lord. Verse 24 reminds us that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward, and it is the Lord Christ you are serving. So remember this, ultimately your reward comes from God and he will truly reward you for all that you are doing. People may not take notice of that. Your boss may not see it, but God takes notice.

Let’s pray.

Father, as we begin this day, we pray that you help us gain the right perspective about work. Help us to work as if we are doing it for you, not for others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
