Overthinking is a Sin

Overthinking is a Sin

Listen to Audio Devotion

In Life, we face troubles and challenges of all kinds but there’s one thing that we often do that makes our problems go from bad to worse… that is called, “OVERTHINKING”

I am sure you know what it means.

Overthinking is basically assuming that the worst has taken place. It is a form of presumption.

Here’s what the Bible says about it.

1 Samuel 15:23 ESV
For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has also rejected you from being king.”

Word of God calls, Presumption is sin and idolatry.

There are two reasons why it is considered a sin.

  1. Makes your problem bigger
  2. God smaller.

In other words,

When you overthink, you make your problems so big that you begin to believe that God cannot solve your problems.

That is an insult and mockery of God.

That’s why the Bible calls it a sin. Let’s avoid overthinking about any problem or circumstance because our God can deliver you from any trouble.

Let’s Pray

Lord, there are times when we overthink and assume that the worst has happened to us even without considering the fact that you are able to save us. Lord, forgive us and help us to believe that you can solve any problem. You can move the mountain no matter how big it may be. Help us to trust in you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
