Do you Love God ?

Do you Love God ?

The Laws and the ordinances in the old testament can be summarized into one statement, “Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.” We can summarize because when you LOVE GOD you will keep his commandments but when don’t have Love for God…it’s easier to disobey.

Our true walk with God begins when we fall in Love with Jesus.

We see this in the bible, In Joshua Chapter 23. Here Joshua, the second leader of Israel, gives a farewell address to the people. He reminds them of all that God has done. He encourages them to be strong.

Joshua 23:9–11 NIV
9 “The Lord has driven out before you great and powerful nations; to this day no one has been able to withstand you.
10 One of you routs a thousand, because the Lord your God fights for you, just as he promised.
11 So be very careful to love the Lord your God.

I like that last statement: Be very careful to love the LORD your God.

Joshua tells the people what God has done and what God will do in the future and finally lists one requirement for the people… i.e., Love the LORD.

I want you to think about this question, God has done so much for me but what does he expect from me? What does God want from me?

The answer to the Question is what we find in Joshua 23:11, Love the Lord your GOD.

I wonder how is our Love for God today! Did we pray today because we LOVE him? Do we serve because we LOVE him? Did we read the bible because we LOVE him?

Why did you do all those things? Was the LOVE for God a motivation?

If it’s not, I pray that we will learn to fall in LOVE with God every day.

Let’s Pray

Lord, We fall short of your requirements. Sometimes our service towards you is motivated by selfish thoughts and ambitions but I pray that you change that. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
