Power to be Godly

Power to be Godly

Listen to Audio Devotion

Often there is a battle with temptation, a battle with sin. It feels as if the more we try the more we fail but there’s a verse in Titus 2:11-14 that says like this

Titus 2:11–14 NIV

11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.

12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,

13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

This passage reminds us, of the miracle that only Jesus can do.

What is that miracle?

  • It’s the Miracle of Moral change
  • It’s the miracle where a person goes from living in sin but now living a Godly life.
  • It’s the miracle where a person who once loved sinful ways but now, loves the way of righteousness.

This miracle can only be done by Our Lord & savior Jesus Christ.

So, when a person turns to Christ by repenting of their sin and accepting Jesus as Lord and savior. What happens is that they receive the grace or in other words the power to say NO to sin.

Sin is attractive, there’s no denying, it has a seductive power to it. However, the Power that God gives enables us to say, No to Sin, No to Passions, and No to an ungodly life.

Isn’t that wonderful ?!

What I love about the Christian faith is that… Once you truly come to the Lord. You don’t have to deal with everything on your own but God is there to help us to become better; run away from sin and pursue righteousness. God is there to deal with the temptations and the sin that comes our way.

Finally,

Despite all the help, we receive what if we fail? What if we do what we are not supposed to do?

Here’s a truth we must always remember.

The price that Jesus paid on the cross is enough to cleanse us of our past sins, and also cleanse us of sins that we may commit in the future. This means, when we fail, there is an opportunity to come back… Your life does not end there. Many live with that guilt. With that pain, Oh I did this. God will not forgive me anymore.

Let me remind you,

Even if you fail 100 times, He is still able to save you, forgive, and make you a new person once again.

Let’s Pray

Lord, We thank you for the price you paid for us on the cross. Thank you for your Grace and your love for us. As we begin our day, help us to depend on your grace and not on our strength. Let us not Live in guilt and shame rather remind us that your grace is enough.

In Jesus name, Amen.
