When I don’t feel like praying

When I don’t feel like praying

There are times when we may not feel like praying, though we know that prayer is an important part of our Christian life, there will be times when we won’t even feel like uttering a word in prayer because of the way we feel at that moment. One of the common reasons why we don’t feel like praying is because we overthink our situation, and the more we overthink, the more it’ll seem impossible.

Whatever challenges you may be facing, if you end up overthinking about it, it’ll seem like an impossibility. And even though we know that prayer is a solution to a lot of things, we don’t feel like praying because overthinking shuts the door to prayer. Let me say that one more time. Overthinking shuts the door to prayer.

But the Bible teaches us something different. That is, instead of overthinking, this is what we have to do.

Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV
Rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

If you’re walking through a situation and you’re wondering, What is God’s will for me?

How do I deal with this? It’s very simple, just pray. But instead of praying, what we often resort to is overthinking. And quite often, instead of praying, overthinking becomes the automatic response to all our troubles. And somehow we become okay with overthinking, to the point that praying and seeking God is not something that comes to our mind at all.

The Bible says that it’s God’s will for us to pray continually. So when you don’t feel like praying, just do it. Don’t think about your feelings, don’t think about what you are experiencing at that moment because prayer is something that God wants us to do. Because as we pray, we will begin to understand that all things are possible.

But if we overthink, we’ll feel as though nothing is possible, that all things are impossible. But when you pray, you’ll see the door of possibility. So, even when you don’t feel like praying, just do it. Don’t think about it, but just do it. And you will see God doing wonders in your life.

Let’s pray.

Father, help us to pray when we don’t feel like it. And help us to remember that prayer is the solution. No matter what troubles we face, we can always come to you in prayer. And you will do the impossible. You will do… All things. We thank you, Jesus, for who you are. In your name, we pray. Amen.
