I don’t like you… when we think of a person who has hurt us in some way, these are words that come to our mind. We are aware that the Bible calls us to Love our Enemies, and to love even those who hurt us…. So we don’t want to hate them but at the same time, we don’t want to love them. So we say, “I don’t like you.” It’s just a soft way of dealing with those who have hurt us.
But what does the Bible say,
In Luke 6:27–28 NIV
“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
In these words, What God is calling us to do is to go beyond what our feelings will tell us. Our feeling will often tell us, don’t talk, don’t help. our feelings will often remind us of what they did to us years ago. But God is calling us to go beyond what our feelings will tell us. We are called to obey His word, i.e., Do good to those who hate, and bless those who curse and pray for those who mistreat us.
Now, I know what you may be thinking. This is easier said than done. That’s true.
But with the Help of the Holy Spirit, we can deal with them in the way the Bible calls us to.
So, Let’s rely on him.
Let’s Pray
Father, help us to rely on you in every step of our life because we always find it difficult to deal with those who hurt us. We pray that You fill us with Your strength so that we will do what Your word says. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
