Doesn’t Matter what People say

Perhaps our biggest challenge and discouragement often come not because we experience failure but because of the words that people say! Those Criticising, & Condescending words can really tear us apart.

You might be the kind of person that puts in the full effort and gives 100% or beyond in everything but that one word can change you so much that next time, you will not give your best because no matter what you do, you will hear those toxic words.

As a young Pastor, I get to hear certain words that make me feel as if I should pack my bags, leave this city or do something else.

But this is what I remind myself.

It doesn’t matter what people say. What really matters is, “What does God say ?”

If you look at Hebrews 12:1-2

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

I’d like you to pay attention to this line, “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Which Means, that anything God calls us to do, calls you and me to do. We are called to do it with perseverance.

Next,

The question, “How can I persevere ?” What steps should I take to persevere in the call that God has given ?”

The Bible encourages us to “FIX OUR EYES ON JESUS”

  • Our Focus has to be 100% and more on Jesus.

We often are discouraged because we run our race for the glory of God but with eyes fixed on people. As a result, their opinions become very important to us. Remember this, We are called to Live for the glory of God and most importantly we are called to focus on Jesus and not on people and that is why, what they say doesn’t matter.

Because it’s all about Jesus.

As you begin this day, I encourage focus on Jesus not on people. When you do that, their words will have little to no effect on you.

Let’s Pray,

Father, we are sorry that we have focused our minds on people’s opinions, as a result, we feel discouraged, but help us, Lord, as we begin this day to focus only on you. In Jesus’ name.
