But I failed

But I failed

Listen to Audio Devotion

Good Morning Welcome to a New day! We hope you are doing well. This morning I’d like to continue our devotion from what I shared yesterday. Yesterday, I shared about, “Remaining Strong.” In that, I shared about how once we have taken that decision we must remain strong and consistent.

Let’s say, You’ve made an effort, and you remained strong but there came a challenge, a temptation to make you fall and unfortunately, you gave into that temptation and so fell. You didn’t want to do it but somehow gave into that temptation and you may be wondering, now what? What will God do? Is God going to send me straight to hell?

“But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” – 1 John 1:9 (NIV)

God will not send you straight to hell but will give you another opportunity to come back to him again. This means, if we confess our sins, he will forgive us and not just that but cleanse us from all wickedness.

In other words, God will help us come back to him and will strengthen us so that we don’t repeat that same mistake again.

Some may ask, What if I keep failing more than once? What if I keep failing again and again? Even if you fail a hundred times, repeat the same process. Go to him and confess your sins and he will forgive and cleanse you. One thing to keep in mind is that we cannot misuse the kindness of God. There are people who think, I can do this sin and come back and ask for forgiveness, everything will be alright.

Remember this, God is only willing to deal with a sinner who is truly repentant and is willing to make changes in his life. Not with one who misuses forgiveness for his own benefit.

Don’t allow shame to rule you

There is another group of people who think Christianity is about living that perfect life. For such people, if they do a mistake they feel so terrible and so guilty that they God want to punish or do something to them. They won’t seek forgiveness because they are filled with so much guilt and shame.

Remember this, No matter what you’ve done and how far you’ve gone. You can always come back to God because of his love for you. The Bible says, As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:12)

Let’s Pray

Lord, I thank you that you are the God who forgives and restores. When we fail, help us to turn to you and remind us today that you are the God who is gracious. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Stop being Unproductive

Working hard and being productive and making good use of your time is a Christian virtue, but those who look the other way and choose to be lazy and unproductive and procrastinate are doing the very thing that God hates.
