The Cross, Hope of Bonding

The Cross, Hope of Bonding

Listen to Audio Devotion

Today we would continue to speak on the same theme, the cross, the Sign of Hope, the last time I spoke on the cross, being a hope of acceptance, today let me talk to you, the cross being, the hope of bonding in Hebrews 13:5, the word of God says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” In Revelation 3:20, the word of God tells us, behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him.

The Bible teaches us that the cross reminds us that God wants to have that bonding with those who would repent and turn to him and those who would call and accept him as a savior. The Bible teaches us of a strong bonding of a personal relationship that only we can have through the reconciling work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Jesus died on the cross to fulfill the ministry of reconciliation. The knowledge of the cross and the love of the Lord that was demonstrated on the cross brings a bonding in our relationship with him. Jesus on the cross. When we read in Luke’s gospel, 23:43, he looked at the criminal who was crucified next to him, and he told him, today, you will be with me in paradise.

What a word of bonding. The Lord pronounced from the cross. Was it only for him? No. The Lord wants to have that bonding with everyone who would look up to the cross with hope in Jesus. Are we celebrating that bonding with him? What a privilege. God Almighty, sovereign God is willing to have a bonded relationship with us.

It’s such a joy to celebrate our walk with him. If you’re not celebrating your walk with the Lord, can I invite you to repent for whatever you have done? s

Can I pray with you?
Lord, we are so grateful to you for what the cross can teach us. Thank you for reminding us that we have the honor and the privilege of celebrating a personal relationship with you because of the cross of Calvary. Thank you that you want to have that bonding with us. Lord, I pray for everyone who’s hearing this devotion that if somebody has moved away from that path of righteousness, pray that the cross will invite them back and that they will find the joy of walking with you always. In Jesus’ precious name, we pray, amen.
