Psalm 56:3-4 NIV
When I’m afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, In God I trust, and I’m not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
When we are afraid, what do we do? When we are filled with fear, what do we do? The psalmist says, when I’m afraid, I put my trust in you.
People are dealing with fear daily, fear of something, maybe fear of the unknown, or fear of the future, or fear of what’s going to happen tomorrow. There’s always a fear about what if what I did in the past came back to me again. What if my past mistakes that I did, that I know I’ve dealt with it, still do something to me today?
There’s always this fear that maybe something is going to happen to me. Something will destroy my life. The psalmist says like this, when I’m afraid, I put my trust in you. So when fear grips our hearts, we must come to the Lord and say, God, I trust in you. So the solution to fear is to trust in God. But that is sometimes the most difficult thing to do.
Trusting in God can become difficult at times. And trusting in God can become difficult because… of a lack of a strong relationship with God. Trust always comes from knowing the person. So if we know God and walk with him every day, if we are growing in the knowledge of God, then trusting will become easier.
If we don’t, then trusting will always be difficult. It is as if trusting in someone we don’t know. So, if we are dealing with fear, we must ask ourselves, do I trust in God? And if we are unable to trust in God, then we must ask ourselves, how is my relationship with God? Because if the relationship is strong, you’ll be able to trust, and when you trust in God, you’ll be able to deal with your fears.
I pray that as you begin your day, you will learn to trust in God, and more than anything, I pray that you’ll get to know God more, and walk with Him every day.
Let’s pray.
Father, help us to know you more, because the knowledge of you, Helps us trust in you, and trusting in you helps us overcome fear Lord, we pray that anyone who is listening is dealing with any kind of fear. I pray that you deliver them I pray that you remind them that relationship with you is first. That’s all that matters We thank you for this beautiful day. In Jesus’ name. Amen
