God is Faithful

God is Faithful

Listen to Audio Devotion

Good morning, welcome to a brand new day. Dear people of God, every day we are reminded that God is always by our side and that He loves us. It is true that we face problems and trials in our life, where we attempt to think that God doesn’t love us. The failures and shortcomings that we face make us feel that God is far away from us.

Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

In the New King James Version, we read that through the Lord’s mercies, we are not consumed because His compassions fail not.

God’s compassion, His mercy is a by-product of His love. Because his love is steadfast and knows no end, neither will his compassion. The word steadfast means firmly fixed or immovable. In other words, nothing we have faced or will ever face can possibly remove us from God’s love. The Hebrew text reads this way, The faithful love of the Lord keeps us from destruction.

No destruction will come upon us when the faithful love of the Lord is upon us. And it is important that we keep this at the forefront of our minds. Every time we wake up, God’s mercies are new. This is another way of showing us that God’s mercies will never run out. Regardless of how often you rely on God’s compassion, there will be more for you tomorrow.

Now, this isn’t a license for you to sin or live however you want. But this is an opportunity to return to God even after you mess up. Billy Graham once said, The wonderful news is that our Lord is a God of mercy and He responds to repentance. No matter what we have done, if we just repent and return to the Lord, He is faithful to forgive us because His mercies are new every morning.

We don’t need to worry about God’s mercies running dry. God’s mercies are new every month. Now, the last part of this verse ties the whole passage together. We receive mercy and compassion not because we are faithful, but because God is faithful. It is His faithfulness to His promise that allows us to receive His mercies.

So, dear people of God, do not fall for the enemy’s lies and do not give up your faith in God. But fear the Lord and put your hope in Him, and He will carry you through. William Plummer states that no man acts with true wisdom till he fears God and hopes in his mercy. I want to sing this song for you as we close.

God bless you. Have a wonderful day.
