The Power to Act

The Power to Act

Listen to Audio Devotion

One of the greatest difficulties of life is that we know what we should do but we are unable to do it. When it comes to doing the task we feel paralyzed, unable to move and accomplish the task.

Colossians 1:9–11 NIV

9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,

10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,

Paul prays so that the church is strengthened with all power.

There is a need for power that is not explicitly mentioned here. i.e., We need power to accomplish God’s will & Purpose. We need power to take action and complete the task. Because when it comes to God’s will, we may be aware as to what God desires to through our lives. We may be aware of his will and purpose for our life. But every time we try to act on that will on purpose, we will often find ourselves in a place where we unable to do anything. We want to do, we have the desire to do but we are unable to do.

When Paul prays for the church. He prays for power.

Question is why do we need power ?

We need power to turn plans into actions

We need power to turn God’s will into actions.

And, we receive this power only through prayer.

That is why Paul prays for the church.

If you ever find yourself at stage of life where you know what to do but are unable to do it. Pray! Pray! Because Prayer turns into a man of action.

Let’s Pray

Lord, we are reminded through your word —- it is not our will power that turn us into a man of action but it is the power that comes from your presence that turns us in men & women who will take action and accomplish your will & purpose.

So, Lord, Help us to pray. Help us to be filled with your power.

In Jesus’ name.

Amen.
