Relationship with Unbelievers

Relationship with Unbelievers

Colossians 4:5-6

Live with wisdom toward those outside, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how it is necessary for you to answer each one.

As Christians, we are called to love and serve everyone, including those who do not believe in Jesus Christ. This can be a challenge, but it is also an opportunity to share the gospel with them.

One way to build relationships with unbelievers is to find common ground. This could be anything from shared interests to shared values. For example, if you both enjoy Chinese food, you could go try out a Chinese joint and talk about your faith through your meal.

Another way to build relationships with unbelievers is to simply be kind and loving to them. This does not mean that you have to agree with everything they say or do, but it does mean that you should treat them with respect. When you are kind and loving to unbelievers, it shows them the love of Christ.

But in most cases, there is definitely going to be disagreements. Just think about it from their perspective. When you’re sharing the truth, you’re basically telling them that their whole belief system is a lie. It’s fine. Sometimes disagreement can lead to deeper conversations about faith. The most important thing is to be patient and loving with them.

Here’s some practical tips:

  • Make a list of people you know who are unbelievers.
  • Pray for each person on your list.
  • Ask God to give you opportunities to build relationships with them.
  • Look for ways to share the gospel with them in a respectful and non-judgmental way.

Prayer

Lord, help us to love and serve all people, including those who do not believe in you. Give us the patience and wisdom to build relationships with unbelievers and to share the gospel with them. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
