My teacher would often say, that the gift we need for the time is the “Gift of Discernment.” Being able to discern between good and bad is crucial because we are living in times when the lines between good and bad are so blurred that…everything looks godly, everything looks okay and there’s no such thing as sin it’s only what you think of it.
the Bible says this,
Isaiah 5:20 NIV
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
God is addressing the injustice among the Israelites. There were people taking over others’ land, those who get drunk; those living irresponsible life, they don’t care about God and are involved in all kinds of wickedness.
Such people have a certain characteristic, that it. They lack discernment, that is why God warns them saying, “Woe to those who call Evil Good and good evil..” They really don’t know what’s wrong and what is right so they go based on what they feel at that moment. Whatever is good and Godly becomes evil and whatever is Evil becomes godly for them.
The reason such people lost their discernment is that they drifted far from God and his word. Whenever a person abandons God, he loses his discernment. But whenever a person draws close to the Lord and his word, he grows in discernment.
The sign of a true walk with the Lord is that you will be able to discern situations and circumstances around you.
Let’s Pray
We are living in a world where the lines between Good and Evil are often blurred. Help us to draw closer to you and your word so that we may discern better. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
